What's this? A croissant for breakfast? A chicken Caesar salad for
lunch? Sounds like something on the menu at your favorite eatery. But
this restaurant is 35 thousand feet up. Welcome to the new food cart,
courtesy of a pay-per-meal program now available on selected
airlines. U.S. airways, Northwest, Midwest and Song are working with
several chain restaurants to offer meals that are a lot better
looking û and tasting û than what you usually get up there in the
wild blue. Midwest is offering things like a grilled veggie wrap,
Northwest has a turkey club deluxe and US Airways hands out a Caesar
salad, among other goodies.

I know you're wondering and the answer is no, it's not free and it's
not included in the price of your ticket. In fact, you'll probably
pay anywhere from $7.50 to $10 for the pleasure of eating better. The
meals are prepared in airport kitchens but you can't order in
advance, which means that by the time you get to your seat they may
be out of that rosemary chicken breast you were looking forward to.

And don't think these meals are delivered right from the restaurant.
They're still boxed meals that have probably been refrigerated, which
means you could end up wilted lettuce or a soggy sandwich. And not
all of the choices are exactly healthy: muffins and coffee cake don't
fit into everyone's diet. In short, it's not free and it's not
perfect, but it sure
Beats peanuts and pretzels.
