3 Steps to Staying Motivated
by Jason Gracia
Now that you have found initial motivation to be happy
and successful, you need to stay motivated. These are
some ideas that will definitely keep you going in the
right direction.
1. KEEP THE END IN MIND
When you have started a project, remind yourself what
you're working towards. If you are researching a new job,
picture working at that new job, and how happy it is
going to make you.
If you are working on your relationship with your family,
keep a picture of where you'll be in your mind. See the
family gatherings and happy holidays you'll share with
one another.
2. USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM
Tell a close friend about a goal you have, or a task you
are trying to complete. Let him know that he is your
motivation buddy, whose job it is to check up on you and
your progress.
At times a friend is just what we need to stay motivated.
You will be getting constant encouragement and help. This
will keep you focused and enthusiastic, making your goals
easier to achieve.
3. REWARD YOURSELF
You are working hard, and you need to be rewarded. When
you reach certain levels of your goals or tasks, reward
yourself.
Maybe you finished the first chapter of the book you're
writing, take your family out to dinner to celebrate.
This will keep you motivated to stick with your goal, as
well as give you reinforcement and a small, but
important, reward for your hard work.
