The Rockblock label (Domaine Serene) started in 1999 with a sole focus: vineyard designated Oregon Syrah. They have focused on the warmer areas of Oregon in the south and east where Syrah can achieve maximum expression of character and ripeness.

The name Rockblock was chosen to reinforce the concept that the most profound expressions of Syrah are grown in areas where the soils are nutrient poor and often ?rocky?. All of the Syrah vineyards we work with have these intense and distinctive characteristics.

Initial aromas of cedar, barrel toast and freshly ground coffee lead the way to intense blackberry, cassis, dark plum, black pepper, vanilla and anise. The palate is rich and round with initial flavors of anise, blackberry preserves, cherry cordial, a slight hint of cedar, bramble and unsweetened cocoa. The finish is long and sweet with ripe tannins.

This wine brings out the best of Syrah in a entirely new light and direction.
