A better option, and one that close relations will value, is to employ your children's art to wrap up presents. You could also use your children's comic books, or the comic sections of newsprints as a bright and colourful option, thereby reusing used paper. You could explain to the recipient of the gift in a positive way why you are doing this and possibly make them feel ashamed for not delivering a green Christmas as well.

It has been estimated by the Sierra Club, America's most historical and largest environmental organization, that if every household in the nation gift wrapped merely three gifts by recycling existent paper they already possess, the paper saved would be enough to cover 45,000 football fields. Proceed into the woodland, or even a nearby ballpark, and acquire evergreen plant branches and dried twigs. These may be wrapped in a circular style with cranberries strung together to bestow a splash of bright color. You will surprise yourself at how good you are, it will not cost you anything but a little time, and the materials are biodegradable. Your green Christmas cannot become much better than that.

There are definitely many more things you may do to make this a green Christmas. Consider making your own cards, for instance. Utilize your kids artwork again - it's perfect for this and any grandparent will love it.
