Many people, mostly women, have yeast infections on a frequent basis. These infections are usually not too difficult to treat, especially by eating the right foods, including such things as yoghurt and garlic. This is commonly known and acted upon.
However, there are times when the yeast infection becomes more deep seated than usual. Most often due to Candida Albicans, there are in fact more than 150 different strains of Candida, but Candida Albicans is the usual culprit.
Candida lives in pretty much all of us all the time, not causing problems until something happens to upset the natural balance of the body. When this happens, in simple terms it means that the body's naturally occuring "good bacteria" are overwhelmed by the yeast bacteria.
When this occurs the yeast in candida mutates from yeast to a fungal form. This then rapidly proliferates through the body, causing many problems. Some of which not easily related back to an original yeast infection.
It is useful to know the difference between the two forms of organism. Candida in it's normal yeast state lives on the sugar to be found naturally in the body, and in a balanced body is not invasive and no problem.
The problems come when it mutates in the fungal form. In this state it does become invasive, producing what can only be described as root like systems called rhizoids. These rhizoids are able to penetrate almost everywhere, this of course enables various unwanted organisms to get into the bloodstream.
This can cause all sorts of allergies and food intolerances. At this stage then it is easy to se why the condition is not always related to the original yeast infection. So whilst of course we want to get rid of the yeast infection we need to be taking steps to stop it becoming deep rooted.
Nowadays we live a relatively easy life. One of the trade-offs is that there are many more things that are bad for us, and most of us know this. One of the main offenders where yeast infections and candida are concerned is processed foods.
Not so many years ago these things just were not available. They didn't exist. And we didn't suffer so much from health problems like yeast infections. Just look at the explosion of people with asthma and allergies today.
We need to eliminate as much processed food as possible from our diet. Of course this is not an easy thing to do. It's so convenient to grab a ready meal or TV dinner and zap it up. None of us have the time. But what time out of our lives does a yeast infection take?
Just try as much as possible to eliminate procesed foods. Eat as much raw food as possible, this is by far the best route. A word of warning though, watch your consumption of fruit. Whilst good for us in moderate amounts, fruit does contain sugar, OK it's not refined sugar which is the real baddy. However, it's still sugar, and yeast loves sugar, it's the primary food source for it.
Whilst you are doing this make sure to maintain your water intake, and keep your body in as much of an alkaline state as possible, this inhibits the growth of candida. Don't worry about the science, just go to your search engine and key in "Alkaline Foods" you will find plenty of choice.
Also key in "Acidic Foods" make a note or print out what you find, these are the foods you want to cut out if possible, or at least cut down a lot. Yeast infections love an acidic environment. Don't give it to them. Try it for a month, I'll be amazed if you don't benefit.
