For a weekend break with a difference look no further than the buzzing artistic ‘Town of Little Shops’, Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire’s Calderdale.

Known as ‘the jewel in the crown of the South Pennines’, the town has been voted one of the best places in Britain to visit and there is always something happening to entertain the crowds.

On Saturday 1st abd Sunday 2nd August, the Hebden Bridge Vintage Car Weekend will delight visitors as it has done for the past 26 years.

The event attracts hundreds of cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles of various ages and varieties – including specialist displays of Rolls Royce and Bentley cars and military vehicles.

Together with the main rally there will be static displays of transport from yesteryear, variously powered static engines, auto jumble trade stands, refreshments, a produce market and live music on both days.

It is also an ideal location to watch the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society’s famous ‘Trans Pennine Run’, which takes place on the same day.

The event takes place at Calder Holmes Park and is organised by the Yorkshire Historic Car Club and Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge.

The event is a day of fun for all the family and well worth the trip, with plenty of comfortable accommodation available in the town.

Among the very best is Croft Mill, a recently converted mill in the heart of the town which has been lovingly restored to offer 12 immaculate and stylish 4-star self-catering holiday apartments.

Croft Mill can accommodate 45 guests in 12 apartments ranging from Standard (which is anything but) to a luxury Penthouse. The Mill even boasts a rooftop conservatory that is available to book for small functions.

The Croft Mill website at www.croftmill.com contains photography and a virtual tour of each luxurious apartment and there are more special offers as well as a booking enquiry form, a list of local events and information about the town and surrounding area.

Aside from the Vintage Weekend, there is plenty to do in Hebden Bridge which is a magnet for tourists who come to enjoy its original shops and galleries, organic food outlets, restaurants and bars, fabulous walks and cycle ways, and surrounding countryside and attractions.
