When I was working in the Semiconductor Industry, as an engineer, I was paying big dollars for my health care. I finally decided to quit my health plan, since I had not used it for 10 years. I was paying around $250 per month and this included a dental plan. This only included me and one other family member.
The problem with this health plan was every year at renewal time the company would change to a different provider and the cost would go up and the services would go down. I recently found a membership that made sense to me related to dental insurance.
Even though I am now on Medicare, I still have my own dental coverage. At my age, I still get my teeth clean and x-ray when necessary to make sure my teeth stay healthy.
There are some dental memberships that you can join. These memberships have thousands of members and this gives them the power to negotiate with dentists so that they can provide you with lower dental insurance prices. Wherever you go in the country dentist prices are high. With dental memberships, you can get up to 20% - 60% off on dental plans and 15% - 45% off on the vision plans.

How do these plans work? You go online and join for a small fee, and then you get your online membership card. You can immediate start using it. You have to use one of the dentists that are on their list to get the discount. This is the way most dental plans work, even the ones you have at your workplace. Sometimes your work plan will allow you to go to a doctor that is not on their list but that will cost you more.
So what does it cost to be a member of a large dental co-op? Some co-ops have a setup fee of $10-20 then a monthly charge of $5 – 10. These plans also have a prescription discount card. If you want to include a number of family members, including parents, it will cost more.
Some of the membership plans give you the dental insurance plan price schedule, so you can see what it will cost you to go to a specific dentist. You don’t want to go or choose a dentist, unless you know what their fee will be.

If you want to save money on dental plans, you need to do your research on dental memberships. It is here where you can get the best prices for your dentist work. If you are trying to save big money, then use these memberships. If you have been laid off and want to keep having dental coverage then join these low cost family membership plans.
