It’s of common knowledge that SEO content writing is keyword-centric and has few guidelines to be followed, which makes it a different form of writing than creative writing. However, there have been mass misconceptions about certain issues and that is understandable given in the mystic nature of ranks of search engine. Here is one of the major misconceptions about
SEO content writing – Exact keyword phrases need to be targeted in content writing, failing in which, the article would not be displayed in search results for that particular keyword phrase. No! You need not target exact key phrases in content writing. Peruse through this article to conquer over this myth.
Problem in the usage of lengthy keyphrases
If a keyword density of 4% is to be maintained, single keywords can be incorporated in the article in a natural way, however, it would be quite difficult (almost impossible) to incorporate a keyword phrase of say 4-5 words in length in a natural way. Even if it’s incorporated in a so-called natural way, it would still deteriorate the readability of the article. So, to put it up in words, there are two major problems with lengthy keyphrases:
1.Natural incorporation of keyphrases in articles.
2.Maintaining the readability of the article with the incorporation of keyphrases.
Solution
Instead of writing down the exact keyphrase together, the keyphrase can be segmented into individual keywords and each keyword can be then repeated as many times as the keyphrase was intended to be repeated and still, the former style would deliver almost equivalent results as the latter one.
For example, if the keyphrase is ‘
search engine copywriting U.S.A’ and needs to be repeated 4 times in an article. Instead of including propositions in this particular keyphrase, one can repeat the individual keywords or more meaningful keywords like ‘search engine’ ‘Copywriting’ and ‘U.S.A’ can be repeated 4 times individually, anywhere in the article. Thus, the content writer gets more liberty to put in information in a readable manner.
The article with segmented incorporations would initially rank slightly lower than continuous keyphrases. However, one should not forget that search engines are for humans and not vice-versa. So to speak, the article with segmented incorporations can win on the readability factor and may move to higher rankings over a period of time, after the users rate it more useful!
