Filing for bankruptcy can be quite costly. You will be dealing with attorney fees, the credit counseling and petition fees, the amendment and reopening fees, the list is endless and not to mention expensive. To even make the situation more tedious, there are additional cost to the dismay of filers. These new laws also have the requirement for individuals to take credit classes, which you guessed it, are not free. You may have to part with about $60 US dollars. There is a possibility though that you can get to attend these classes for free. If an attorney provides you with a free legal aid program or if you can prove that you are a low income earner you may get a free pass, through a waiver program.

Majority of the people cannot go it alone when it comes to bankruptcy proceedings. They choose to seek legal counsel which can be costly. Through the state system, there is a possibility of getting free legal counsel. You may have to be patient though, as there is a waiting list. In the end most people will still have to dig into their pockets to get legal representation.
