If you have been to a party and have taken too many fatty foods, you would in all likelihood have indigestion. Indigestion is a common tummy dysfunction. Everybody has felt this discomfort called indigestion at some point or the other. However, the most complain of indigestion is flatulence or formation of gas in the tummy.
You could also give your kids over-the-counter H2 receptor antagonists medicines. These reduce the amount of stomach acid being produced so therefore
prevent heartburn ever happening instead of just trying to cure it.
Heartburn is caused usually by two types of disorders: GERD, which is also known as gastro esophageal reflux disease and ulcers. Heartburn occurs when digestive fluids overflow in the throat irritating its lining in the process. Typical heartburn symptoms are burning sensation in the chest and heart area.
Also, throat and breathing problems may be made worse by acid indigestion. Some people may actually think they have allergies, since they have inflammation in their sinuses or throat, when acid reflux is the real culprit.
There are differences in the indigestion caused in people due to vata, pitta and kapha doshas. In people with vata dosha, indigestion is felt as a painful cramping of the abdomen. In people with pitta dosha, there is a burning or searing kind of pain in the abdomen.
If the process of digestion is compared to that of cooking rice, the stomach,like the vessel., receives food. Vata provides the necessary conditions like the air blower, Pitta acts like the stove, providing optimum working conditions while Kapha provides the moisture needed much like the water in the vessel. When all these factors are normal andwell balanced, an optimum condition is created to digest the food completely.
Unfortunately, indigestion has a number of underlying causes from the simple and relatively benign, to the more serious which can lead to more serious problems. However, almost all the underlying causes of indigestion can be prevented by simple diet changes.
As discussed earlier, heartburn is one symptom of indigestion. Because of this, all the aforementioned symptoms can be applied to indigestion also without necessarily implicating heartburn is occurring. Additionally, gastritis, smoking, ulcers of the duodenum, gastric ulcers, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs are some potential causes of indigestion.
As for the remaining food groups, proteins and vegetables are excellent combinations. A nice salad of greens with some lean turkey or chicken is unlikely to cause indigestion. Do not put tomatoes in your salad. Tomatoes are fruits and will not mix well with everything else.
Symptoms may include pain and distress in the upper abdomen belching and loud intestinal sounds (borborygmi)nausea, constipation, poor appetite, diarrhea, flatulence. Symptoms include nausea, heartburn, abdominal ache, gas suffering, and a feeling of abdominal distention.
If you are experiencing indigestion symptoms, you may feel some things like pain or fullness in your upper abdomen, heartburn, loss of appetite, feeling sick, or gas in the form of belching or flatulence. These will usually cause minor discomfort.
If you eat foods that your stomach cannot tolerate well, eat foods too fast, or eat too much, then you could have indigestion.
