You may ask, "How do I build a list?" Anyone can do it. It's the best way to make money online. And your marketing cost is virtually nothing.
Get Educated. Talk to others who have successfully built their list. Are they making money? How did they do it? You'll get lots of advice and need to weed out what doesn't work for you. You can download list building software for free and find other sites that are offering free lists. But be careful, do your homework and make sure it's not a ploy to capture your email.
Get the word out. Offer a sale or contest, anything that will draw people to your site. People will recommend it to others if they're happy with what they receive. Advertise on affiliate sites and with each click, you'll not only be building your list, but making money.
Be creative. Invite others to post articles, videos and product information on your web site. Link your site to theirs and capture more email addresses than you can imagine.
Have a niche. Be specific. Offer a weekly series on your site. For instance, "how to's" (How to Create Compelling Characters). The following month you can offer another subject. This will bring in a boatload of potential customers.
Blog. Generate more traffic by squeezing in a section asking people to enter their email. In return you'll send them a free newsletter subscription or free CD. It's the best way for them to justify giving up their personal information. But don't overload them with emails. Send specific info that you know their interested in.
Persistence. It really does pays off. Try different things that will drive traffic to your site. And follow up with your customers. That's key to becoming successful in any business.
