A rock shaped like a giant wave that never breaks is one of Western Australia's wonder. Standing about 15 meters high and 110 meters long it is like a great wall found in Perth's small town called Hyden. Unbelievably it is like an exact replica of the greatest wave that you could probably imagine, very stunning. Popularly known as the Wave Rock and is believed to be formed over 2700 million years ago. And it has been as is until now. Just remarkably unbreakable.
The drive however to Wave Rock will take you 4 hours from Perth's district. Some say that it is not worth it, but for a driver who wants to go outback, this is a sure thing. There are other rock formations to see that are surreal but not as dominating as the size of the Wave Rock like the Breakers, Hippo's Yawn and the Humps. You can also find Aboriginal rock paintings within the Mulka's Cave, it is kind of lovely and it will keep you guessing.
Whether you come by your own vehicle or a rented motorhome, you would surely find an accommodation on the nearby parks and it would be the quiet place ever to spend a night. Powered and unpowered caravan sites are available in a natural bush setting. There are also comfortable cabins that can keep up to 6 people and can give you the usual facilities you'd find in a city accommodation. Although you are in a total outback you can also enjoy a warm swim in a park with a swimming pool. You can also choose a park that is located along the lake with cottages aside from cabins and caravan sites. Common facilities amongst parks in Hyden are the: restaurants, barbecue areas, clean amenities, satellite TV transmissions and on site kiosks. Others can include Wave Rock souvenirs, postal services, ice, gas refilling facilities, and credit card and EFTPOS access so you are not totally lost.
