An Inode in VxFS (Veritas File System) is a data structure that usually describes a file, link, directory, and named type. Corruption in VxFS inode primarily occurs due to metadata structure damage, operating system malfunctioning, malicious software like virus, and more. In most cases of inode corruption due to any of the above scenarios, you encounter an error message. Two major hazards that you might encounter after you receive an error message are unmountable hard drive and inaccessibility of data. A perfect way to overcome such startup error message is to restore data from an updated backup. But, in case of absence of an updated backup or backup falling short to restore the desired information, you will need to opt for a powerful unixware recovery software that ensures complete and systematic data recovery.

As a practical scenario, you encounter the below error message when you attempt to start your computer system:

“vx_iget - [fs name] file system invalid inode number [#]”

The same error message gets repeated for numerous times. Furthermore, in attempt to mount your file system, you encounter another error message:

“vxfs mount: [device] is not a vxfs file system”

All the data stored in your hard drive becomes inaccessible after the above error message appears. In addition, you encounter the same error message when you attempt to mount your system using fsck command.

Cause:

The root cause for the occurrence of the above error message is the Inode corruption.

Resolution:

To resolve the above error message and access your hard drive data, you will need to use full fsck command. But, if the problem persists even after using the full fsck command, then the only option left is to perform a fresh reinstall of SCO UnixWare operating system. A clean reinstall of SCO UnixWare deleted all the previously stored files from the hard drive partition or volume. For complete recovery of all those files, you will need to use effective SCO UnixWare Data Recovery application. These SCO unixware data recovery applications come with highly graphical user documentation, which makes them easy to understand and implement without any prior technical understanding.

Stellar Phoenix (SCO UnixWare) Data Recovery is a flawless SCO UnixWare Recovery software that is compatible with VxFS [Veritas File System - VxFS1, VxFS2 & VxFS4] and UFS File systems. The non destructive tool is designed for Windows 2003, XP, 2000, NT, ME, 98, and 95, and supports storage devices including IDE, EIDE, and SCSI hard drives.
