Following are the main elements to be covered while writing a cover letter:
Addressing
The letter should be addressed to a particular person. If you do not know the name, call and confirm the name and the spelling along with designation, office address, email and fax number. If your writing cover letters to many companies, call in every company and confirm the name of the HR manager or the person you think would find your resume suitable.
Introduction
Start with the aim of writing a letter, mentioning the position you desire and the kind you work you want. If you are referred by somebody mention the person’s name along with designation.
Second paragraph
State your qualification in the paragraph and refer to the resume for further details. Explain to them why you are interested in the company. Make the reader realize that you have done your research and you know a lot about the company and also how skills, interests and strengths go with it.
