In colder regions, houses are kept warm from the inside all the time, using a Central Gas Heating system. Central heating system means getting the heat from central source of heating. Transfer of heat is done by various air vents and radiators which are connected to the central source of heating. The most commonly used boilers for central heating are the gas boilers and condensing boilers. The gases used are the natural gas and LPG. The other boilers which use natural gas are the Combi’s and back boilers.

Central Heating is required almost all the time during the winter season, so cost-effectiveness and efficiency of fuel is very important while installing the Central heating system. Cheaper than the other heating systems, central gas heating is also very convenient at the same time. It gets on and off by itself as it has a thermostat attached with it. Another advantage of central gas heating system is that you can get supply of hot water all the time. And you can also have continuous supply of gas (unlike other fuels) as it is supplied via pipes to your houses.

Installing a gas central gas heating system is a major investment. To make it cost-effective and more efficient, you need to have proper maintenance of your gas boiler. You can have gas boiler problems at bay if you take little care. The very good idea is to go for annual boiler servicing. It keeps your boiler in good condition and you can lean about any problem beforehand.

There may appear some minor problems with the gas boiler which you can handle on your own. But in case of major break downs you should always call the Gas Safe Register approved Heating Engineer who will perform safe repairs.

The gas inside the boiler is inflammable. If you smell of any gas leakage, immediately call the National Gas Emergency Services.

Another thing you can do to protect your house and your pocket from sudden problems which arise while using gas heating system is to take a Gas Boiler Cover or Central Heating Cover.
To maintain your gas boiler, it is important to run gas boiler at once in a month, even in hot weather. This action maintains the efficiency of the system by clearing any grit which may have gathered in the boiler pump.

Call Gas Safe registered engineers at least once a year to check its efficiency and smooth running. In a rented house, it is the responsibility of the house owner to get the boiler checked regularly.

It is best to get a Carbon Monoxide detector fit which will warn you in case of a gas leak. Always keep the air vents clear and do not cover the gas boiler.
