Weight Loss Facts of my Siblings
Our mother must have known The Facts About Weight Loss.
As we grew up we were all thin, we done all the farm chores. Milking cows by hand, stacking the idiot bales(small square bales weighing up to 120lbs.) on racks being pulled behind the baler and in piles in the farm yard or in barns. With temperatures in the triple digits, especially in the barns. Some had tin roofs on them which raised the temperatures by at least 20° higher than out in the open. Our metabolisms were running very high. We never ever worried about losing weight.

When my oldest brother graduated high school (160 lbs) he got married right away. It must have been good for him as he started gaining weight. By the time he turned 20 he was weighing in well over 240 lbs. He became very lazy with all the extra weight.

He decided to start dieting, he tried many different fad diets which left him being constantly hungry. He would lose a few pounds the first week. Then every thing came to a halt, no more loss of weight. So he would give up. Then a few weeks later start another diet, starving himself until he was almost to week to get up and go to work. So he would start eating everything again which got him even heaver than he had been before dieting. He finally quit all dieting until he became diabetic at 34 years of age. The doctor then put him on a diet which he had to follow. The Doctor also said that the dieting may have contributed to him becoming diabetic. Well he is over 70 now, still diabetic and still over 210 pounds.

Next in line to graduate was me, I graduated at 165 pounds, 6 foot tall so I was considered at a mostly fit weight. Now 49 years later I weigh 165 and can still get into my graduation suit as well as my military uniform. I kept my metabolism rate very high all my life. I could eat twice what the rest of the family ate and never gain a pound.

Then my sister graduated and went to college where she too gained a lot of weight. She tried many fad diets with the same results as our older brother. She also became sick from the starving that the diets caused. The doctor finally put her on his healthy diet which she did not lose any weight but did not gain any more. Also 3 years later she became diabetic and the same doctor also told her it may have been from her fad diets earlier in life.

My younger brother graduated next went to college, got married and started his own business. He was shorter and weighed in at 150. He also could eat as much as me and never gain any weight. Now 40 years after graduating he weighs in at 165 pounds so is still in the near fit weight limits. He must also have know The Facts About Dieting.

Now the youngest brother, he was a little heavy in school, 175 pounds, 6ft. 1 inch tall. He played all the sports, football, track, even basket ball and was good in all of them. 4 years later got married and started farming. He did not have any livestock so the winter months were bad for him as he would eat till he was full and sit in front of the TV. He started gaining weight and would say it would get worked off in the summer while farming. It never happened, at 30 years of age he was over 400 lbs. His wife and he both decided to try the fad diets. He lose weight, 20 some lbs. in the first month, but that is where he would stay. He also starving himself like my older brother and my sister. He had to quit that when a kidney gave out on him. Now with a different doctor than the older brother and sister had. He was also told that the starving diets may have caused the kidney failure.

If only they would have know the Facts About Dieting they would be much healthier today. The youngest brother finally looked at the Facts About Dieting and decided to go for the program. In just 13 months he lost more than half his weight and weighs in at 195 lbs. and has kept it off for the last 8 years.
