High definition is becoming very popular, being broadcast by elevisions, radio and DVD players. You might think that all HD is the same but that's not true, there are variances in the broadcasting or reading capabilities of some of these mediums. To see the pure 1080p high definition you must view the projection of a Blu-ray player.

You can get close to true high definition with broadcast signals and streamed internet signals but it is 1080i, which is very, very close but is not 1080p. Not very many people can tell the difference but if you want a true HD experience with the beautiful picture and wonderful sound you'll have to watch a Blu-ray DVD player. It's the only way to view it in your home and it's worth it!

Watching a DVD and then stepping up to a Blu-ray is the equivalent of changing out all of your old VHS tapes and upgrading to DVD. It is really like comparing apples to oranges and the difference is amazing. Blu-ray beat out HD-DVD for this next generation of home entertainment and has quickly become the most popular choice for people wanting the highest quality available for home entertainment.

The release and sales of the Blu-ray players from Sony has had a higher volume in the first two years than when DVD was originally released. This is also true of the sales of the movies, it's not surprising considering the picture and sound quality compared to anything else. Economically the Blu-ray players and movies have come down to what some of the original costs were for regular players and movies.

I know it is hard to buy a movie again for the third time just because there is a new format, but the difference is just amazing. Video rental stores have already started making Blu-rays available for purchase and rental. This makes it easier for people to watch the movies without having to buy every single one of them that they want to watch. Renting them for a reasonable price allows you to enjoy the new technology without having to buy every new movie you want to watch.
