Part 3

If you have not read the first and second part of this article, I suggest that you do so, in order for this trilogy to make sense. This is the third and final part of a three-part article aimed at cutting out the nonsense and helping you to make the right decisions and start at the right place.

In this article, I’m going to be telling you about personal strategic aspect of starting a legitimate, lucrative online business. After you're done with this article, you should be able to plan on paper, or at least articulate a plan of action to lay the foundation for clear direction to start your lucrative, legitimate, home based online business.

Create a vision!

Once you have started working on you mindset, with regard to your worth, placed yourself on the road to continuous learning by increasing your knowledge, the next step in laying the foundation for a successful, sustainable, lucrative online business is to establish what in business terms might be classified as a “strategic intent”. Remember, if you really want to earn an income using the internet, it is not a hobby, it is a business and should be treated as such. If you treat it like a hobby, it will treat you like a hobby. The term “strategic intent”, to many of you may sound like airy-fairy, pie-in-the-sky business terminology. However, you need to ask yourself the “Why” question several times. Example:

“Why do I want to work from home?”
“To supplement my income.” or “I have no other employment” or “To make big money.”

By far, the most attractive aspect of running an online business for most people, is the potential to earn really big money. However, now you need to ask yourself the following question:

“Why do I want to earn BIG money?”

If the first answer that comes into your head is; “To have no financial worries”. Or, “To be financially independent.” Then your enthusiasm and you available cash would probably be short-lived. Take it from someone who has learned the hard way and had it and lost it a number of times; having money for the sake of having money does not last. Statistically, 85% of the people who win big in the national lotteries are financially back where they started within five years for two main reasons:

 They have no idea how to manage and grow such large amounts of money.
 They have no vision pertaining to the contribution that they can make to society using that money.

Having stated this, it’s now prudent to say the final step in laying this foundation for establishing a successful, sustainable, lucrative online business is to have a “mission/vision”. None of the previous two steps will be of any lasting assistance unless you have something to aim for; it’s not enough to just to want to supplement your income or earn extra cash or want to fill your bank account to overflowing. Allow me to give you an example:
My wife, Sharai and I work with a large impoverished community about 2 miles away from us (±10 000 people). We have a vision and that vision is to take this impoverished community and over the next 20 years help transform it into our vision of a thriving, prosperous community. Two of the ways in which we intend to achieve this is by building at least 100 houses for families and establishing at least 100 business. We believe that it’s a powerful mission, a life-changing mission. Having faith in the law of “sowing and reaping”; “that which we sow, we will also reap”, we are convinced that we are benefiting (both financially and in discovering our purpose), as much from this as the people whom we serve. You need to have a mission that is bigger than yourself…….Something to aim for and that will keep you focused.

Henry Ford’s vision: That everyone should own a car.
Nelson Mandela’s vision: South Africa’s freedom from apartheid.
Bill Gates’s vision: Every house in the USA to have a PC.

There are dozens more icons who, if they had not had a vision would have got nowhere. If this part is missing from your foundation, you will not be able to sustain the income from your online business indefinitely. You may do well initially but what then. It’s about finding your purpose. We are all gifted in ways that can contribute to things that are “bigger than ourselves”. When we do this we find our purpose. When we find our purpose, we find ourselves also reaping the benefits of what we do, financially and otherwise.

Is your inclination to be self-centered or centered only on yourself and your immediate family? Or do you have a heart for community or the upliftment of society in general?
If the latter is the case, then establishing parts 1 – 3 of this article, having some persistence and perseverance, you can be not only financially successful with a legitimate, lucrative online business but successful as a person.

In part three of this article, we will talk about a mission pertaining to operating a legitimate profitable business online.

See you in the winner’s circle.
