Has Delhi city started crowding upon you? Go, pick up your car and drive out for couple of days and enjoy the weekend away from the hum drums of Delhi. Destinations around Delhi proffer an old world charm or a world of elegance, few of them with a sprinkle of adventure, and some are quaint hill stations offering sojourns that that needs to be experienced in order to be truly believed. Delhi is India’s richest and largest cities with a population of over 13 million. Weekend trips are extremely popular and there are countless places which take few hours by car.

While city of Agra boasts one of the wonders of the world “Taj Mahal”, Jaipur also known as “Pink city” houses a number of magnificent forts and palaces. At the same time Vrindavan and Mathura are renowned for some of the most revered Lord Krishna temples. Amritsar is another destination around Delhi that can be chosen for weekend travel. Golden temple sited here is the most sacred site for Sikhs. Shimla is another extraordinary tourist destination around Delhi whose beauty and serenity refreshes the spirit of everyone visiting here.


There are few more destinations around Delhi which are different from the usual holiday destination and are untouched and peaceful. These include majestic and impressive Himalayan destination of Binsar. Binsar is a quite place surrounded by rich flora and fauna. Chail is another offbeat destination that is quiet and serene and is at an high altitude higher than the more popular Shimla. There are other Himalyan towns where one can be away from the city’s hectic pace and enjoy the peace and tranquility - like Kanatal, Pangot, bhowali, Ramgarh, Chamba, Dharamshala that lie in the middle ranges of the Himalyas, though the drive will take the entire day.
