The problem with this attitude to selling network marketing in particular, is that it borders on lying to a prospect in order to get his business. But Network marketing is not like selling a vacuum cleaner that may or may not be returnable if found to be faulty. Network marketing by its very nature involves building relationships with people who are looking to the salesman for the one thing he may not be prepared to give; leadership!

1. Never try to sell a networker your business opportunity

The networker is most qualified to join your business because of his knowledge and experience, but he will resist you because your sales pitch will be seen as an indictment against his mlm company, and a big question mark against his judgement. He will resent you. What should you do? Sell him tools that will help him to succeed. Later when you have a relationship with this person, he may be interested in your mlm business.
2. Do not assume that everyone will love your business just because you do.
There is a place for passion in your business. In fact without passion, your business may fail when things get rough. Nevertheless, not everyone will share your passion all the time. Many people want success. When you are selling your network marketing business, many of your prospects will only see the work they need to put into it. No one is passionate about work. They may get passionate about the potential for growth, the travel, the people they will influence, and the money they will make, but not about the work. Bear that in mind when you are trying to motivate your team.
3. Use a qualifyer to see how serious your prospect is about the business.
The top people in any network marketing business will be the most committed. Goethe said "Until you are committed, there is hesitancy.. Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now" To qualify your prospect, you should offer a challenge. It may be a course they must take, a long survey, a report to read, a book to buy, or even a CD or DVD.
Whatever it may be, it must demand a commitment of money. Money is considered a man's most valuable asset, next to his life and the lives of his family. If you want to know how committed he is, ask him to spend money. To this end, when selling network marketing, a small purcase is one of the best ways to gauge commitment. Find an appropriate tool and use it well.
