The May 2009 issue of Forbes magazine reported a total of 793 billionaires in the world. This is after the global financial debacle. By developing the millionaire mindset and integrating it into every aspect of your life, you could be the next millionaire to appear on Forbes' list.
Your background is irrelevant says Eric Sharkey, an Internet millionaire who now coaches others toward the same success. “If you take on the millionaire mindset, amazing things can happen for you. But first you need to believe that it can happen.”
Some facts about what it takes to become a millionaire? There's no doubt you need a saleable idea, a creative spirit and a dedication to your final destination. Masses of people bear all of these attributes, but what sets the millionaires apart from those who simply want to achieve that status is mindset. Before you can grow to be a millionaire, you have to develop the millionaire mindset.
Eric Sharkey says that regardless of how their millions were made, every millionaire shares this same thought process. The key to achievement lies not merely in work ethic but in trusting your instincts and believing in yourself. “Once you accept the millionaire mindset, your goals will turn out to be attainable,” he explains.
Speak Decisively
Indecisive language will get you nowhere, Sharkey says. When you use language like “I may,” or “I'll try,” you fail to set yourself up in favor of victory. “Learn to articulate decisively,” says Sharkey. “Tell yourself 'I will,' and 'I can.' Your belief becomes your language, and your language becomes action. Your action becomes results - and when I say results, I mean money!”
Goal Setting
While your ultimate goal is to become a millionaire, you must be willing to embark on your journey by setting realistic goals. “You can't set your first goal at a million dollars when you haven't even made a thousand yet,” says Sharkey. “You have to set a sequence of achievements for yourself and then keep surpassing them. That's how you build confidence in yourself and how you prove to yourself and others that you have what it takes to go the distance.”
Fear vs. Faith
Fear will cease you in your tracks. Teach yourself to exchange your fear with faith in yourself and others. “Faith will get you the results you want,” says Sharkey. “Have confidence in yourself, your spouse, your kids, your ideas. Believe that you can be triumphant. Faith is an essential portion of the millionaire mindset. Faith moves you forward.”
Just Do It Now!
Wealthy people aren't successful because they're picture perfect. Even the most profitable entrepreneur makes mistakes. “You don't have to make it flawless,” says Sharkey. “You just have to get it going! Quality and steadiness are essential, but perfection is not. At some point you have to pause planning and start doing.” Sharkey says that making mistakes can be a valuable tool. As an alternative of allowing your mistakes to prevent you from trying again, gain knowledge from your mistakes. Treat them in the same way you'd treat straightforward criticism from a trusted colleague.
Regret, is the cost for failing to develop a millionaire attitude says Sharkey. “When I was a kid at our family reunions my elderly relatives would often bring up the word regret. They'd say 'I wish I'd done this or that when I was your age.' I knew then that I didn't want to grow up to have those kinds of regrets.”
