Much of what is being taught by network marketing companies doesn't work out within today's marketplace. One of the generally customary MLM strategy that is still being trained is "belly to belly" or "warm market" marketing. As soon as you sign up in any network marketing business, you will largely likely be told to put in writing down a list of 100 contacts and family, whom you are then instructed to call, invite to house parties, and solicit with your new product and the opportunity to join you in this exciting new-fangled business you've open. At what time you soon realize your excitement isn't adequate, and your acquaintances and family are starting to stay away from you, you set out to wonder what you've gotten yourself into.
This method of "belly to belly" marketing came into existance shortly later than WWII, in the late 40's and early 50's. There was a blooming economy, pride in community, and neighborhoods were genuine neighborhoods. Subdivisions were popping up everywhere, and neighbors knew not only their immediate neighbors, but neighbors several blocks away...As well as all of their families and associates. The backyard barbeque was commonly a gathering of many of these neighbors at a time. Fifty years ago, when a neighbor called you concerning a just starting out opportunity they discovered, you listened! This was the same age that the home party, where you demonstrated your merchandise and encouraged the opportunity to become a representative in your business, came into being as well. Most of the populate attending these home parties were family and associates.
Fast forward fifty years, and take a look around. For the most part people could only know their immediate neighbors, certainly not neighbors several blocks away. We live in a world where exchange of ideas is via fax, cell phone, text messaging, and the internet. Almost every person over the age of 15 has been pitched an opportunity of some sort, and most of the population lives with guarded skepticism. Belly to belly marketing is not an valuable nework marketing strategy in today's world.
So why therefore, you ask, is it still a network marketing strategy that is being preached so wildly all over the industry?
There's a uncomplicated answer - it works for the company. Statistics confirm that the 97% of the folks that sign up with a MLM business will in turn sign up 2.5 people before throwing in the towel. Once that list of family and contacts is exhausted, typically 20-30 days, that flame of excitement and hope burns out and dies. However, a good number will resume to consume the product...And so the company wins. They haven't spent any money training their new distributor, and now have additional consumers of their manufactured goods.
So, the obvious question is "What are the MLM strategies that do work"? To succeed in any MLM business, you need to be taught and understand the art and science of marketing. The first thing any person who wants to build a winning network marketing business completely must do is invest in their own training, not the canned training that your upline has been feeding you. As I've already avowed, these outdated MLM strategies work for the company, but not the distributor. It is imperative that you:
* Discover how to draw individuals that hold a need, need, or desire for your specific product.
* become skilled at how to employ three clear-cut network marketing tools: The phone, the written word, and the internet.
* Develop a skillset that enables you to handle your prospects objections (both of them)!
* grow to be an expert...Know everything as regards your product and it's benefits...How it will be the answer to whatever your propect is searching for.
* Position yourself in the path of your prospect's search...This is paramount to your MLM success.
So, my advice is that you discontinue wasting your money on useless MLM strategies that your upline is feeding you (more money for the company). Invest your hard earned dollars in a proper training course that will educate you in the art and science of marketing. Learning current MLM strategies that work in today's environment will empower you and lead you to build a booming network marketing business. Start now...The time is right!
