With the increasing amount of content online, where do consumers go to find a credit card compare site that fills in the important aspects of a consumers purchase. There are thousands if not millions of search queries that will bounce back if you type in a number of queries into Google. What these sites aim to do is to cut off the fat and give you the raw information that will ultimately drive you to your credit card purchase.

What I find is the best method is to use a lot of different sources and find the best deal. A lot of bigger banks are now offering sign up benefits for going online, but how do we as a consumer know when these are on and which site to go to? One fantastic method I’ve found is to search only on longer tailed keywords that are very specific to my desired outcome. For example if I’m living in Sydney and I’m looking for a local branch where I can discuss all the finer details of a credit card, I would search for Sydney credit card deals. Please make sure you filter through the paid advertising and look for a suitable link to help you make the right decision.

Another reason why people get confused with what card to purchase is the increase in marketing messages by different advertiser. “Our card is the cheapest” & “we have the best rates”. Well how can any of this make sense? Choosing the right card is all down to you as a consumer, your needs and your spend limit. A lot of people have a couple of cards to take advantage of different types of spending and reward packages. I have been in the credit card industry for a very long time and I believe the best way to compare credit cards is the following:
1. Work out your monthly charges on your current card
2. Determine your current rewards program and the value of each gift
3. If you can combine other cards and payments to reduce your repayments

4. Does your bank offer any loyalty for having all your finances in the one place

So, before choosing any credit card it’s important that you compare every available information out there. Further to this, you can always speak to a friend or relative and discuss how they chose theirs.
Once you ask yourself the following questions, you can then start to work out what's best for you. A lot of people will get stuck on certain questions that there bank may, may not ask them then eventually go another provider. One thing the bigger banks now know is that loyalty in this sector is a thing of the past. When we take a look at generation Y and the way they purchase pretty much everything, how can we not look at Credit Cards and the way Gen Y purchase?

If you want to stay ahead, be smart with your choice and take the time to read the fine print of your new credit card. Speak to friends, your bank and credit card compare today
