Whatever you do though, don't compact the compost/peat down once you have planted the seeds, keep it fairly loose. Also, plant the seeds with a certain amount of space between them, don't pack them all in together otherwise they will end up competing for nutrients and won't grow as well.
2.) Keep It Moist
Don't let the soil dry out, keep it watered and moist all of the time as tomato plants like to be able to drink regularly. However, don't go the other way and over-water the soil so that it is saturated, this won't do them any good either. Just keep it moist and that should be fine. If you cannot do this yourself manually, then invest in an automatic watering system.
3.) Warm Is Best
Tomato plants do not like the cold, in fact if you don't keep them warm then a lot of the seeds won't even sprout and you might even get no tomato plants growing at all. Keep them warm at all times, preferably in a greenhouse, but if you don't have a greenhouse then anywhere that is constantly warm is ok.
4.) The Light
The final step is to make sure your plants have plenty of sunlight, tomato plants absolutely thrive on it. Make sure they can get all of the natural light available and you will be well on the path to ripe, delicious tomatoes!
