The economy sucks and we are all struggling to make ends meet. As a mattress industry professional I thought I would lend my expertise to those looking to purchase a new bed in the Phoenix area although my advise can be applied to any area.

If all of a sudden I had to close my bed factory in Phoenix and one of my friends asked me where to go to get a new bed, here's what I would tell him. First, visit some of the larger bed showrooms in the Phoenix area and test out several models within your budget. Narrow it down to just one or two. Get the exact specifications of the bed or beds you like and write them down. If the salesperson has no clue then move on to the next showroom.

Next, take that information and start calling around to other bed stores in the Phoenix area and do specifications price comparisons. The reason for this is simple, we (bed factories) all buy our raw materials from the same places much like Dell, Gateway and HP buy their computer chips from Intel or AMD. You are not so concerned about the brand name as you are what's inside. Trust me, 30 years in the business I have learned a thing or two.

Have you ever wondered why the large bed stores in Phoenix say they will beat anyone else's price, here's the kicker, on the same model? They can confidently say that knowing full well that they have an exclusive on that particular label name. In other words, no other bed store in Phoenix will have that exact same model name. Many stores will have the same bed as far as specifications, just not the same exact name. Ah Ha, are you learning anything yet?

Now for the really good cost savings strategies that I would use if I had to purchase a new bed in Phoenix. Visit an indepedently owned bed factory and talk to the owner directly about purchasing a bed made with the specifications you have already tried and approved. One of two things can happen, they will tell you they do not sell retail, which most don't, or they will tell you they don't normally do that but they will make an exception for you. Given the hard economic times we are all going through you might get even better results if you tell them you have cash in hand to make the bed purchase.

There is one last option that would make the process the easiest. What if you could find an actual bed factory in the Phoenix area who already sells direct to the public with lots of models to choose from? Seems to me that would be the most logical solution to the problem. But where do you go to find one of these bed factories in Phoenix?
