Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has agreed to supply power for Noida Metro on a “no-profit, no-loss” basis.
The rate will, however, be fixed by the state electricity regulatory commission, officials said.
DMRC chief public relations officer Anuj Dayal said: “We plan to start the trial of Noida track from May-end or the first week of June. We are arranging coaches and hope to roll out Metro Rail from Noida in October. Work on the route is progressing fast.” Noida Authority chairman Lalit Srivastava said: “At a meeting of officials from DMRC, UPPCL, Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) and us recently, UPPCL chairman Navneet Sehgal gave in-principle approval to supply power to Metro Rail.” The Metro Rail extension corridor in Noida will extend from New Ashok Nagar (Delhi) DMRC Station at Noida border and cover a length of 7km in Noida to terminate at Noida’s City Centre in Sector 32.
Construction work was fast progressing at six stations on Noida’s Metro route — Sector 15, Sector 3 (Rajnigandha crossing), Sector 18(Atta Market), Sector 37 crossing (National Botanical Garden), Noida Golf Course and Sector 32 (Noida City Centre).
