A few years ago I realised how important it was to have a link to my websites on other people's sites. I then started to phone and e-mail other webmasters who had sites of a similar nature to my own. I did this for about three months and spent many hours on the project. My phone bill went through the roof and for what, next to nothing thats what. These webmasters were either not interested in exchanging links with my sites or were just unaware of the potential benefits it could bring to both parties. This left me with a huge feeling of frustration. I at last believed I had the answer on how to promote the sites but was still unable to attract the links.
I then stumbled across article marketing. I read about all of the benefits of writing articles and suddenly felt excited as I was confident that this could prove to be time well spent. I had a lot of what I believed was valuable information in my brain which I thought would be of interest to many other people.
The first twenty or thirty articles I wrote were it has to be said quite poor but even these articles started to appear on other people's websites. This gave me a lot of encouragement as these sites were then helping me to not only gain a backward link but a one-way backward link which for obvious reasons has a much higher value.
I then started to write even more articles and the results were there for everyone to see. The traffic has steadily increased and all of the sites have gained in page rank.
I will continue with my efforts in learning about how to promote a website but will always stick to the basics of writing articles as it certainly works for me.
