Above ground pools are a wonderful investment of fun for a lot less money than building an in ground pool. Having said that we must note that to make your above ground pool experience enjoyable you must spend some money. So many people have traveled down the road of buying an inexpensive pool only to let it turn into a back yard algae experiment because they quickly became disenchanted with experience due to a low value product.
So investing between one and three thousand dollars on an above ground pool should be expected ahead of time. If you are buying a standard steel walled pool you may notice that while the sides are sturdy and the top rail is rigid and in place, only 20 millimeters of vinyl protect the bottom of the pool and disaster. This is riding the razors edge for your investment. Many people will suggest and use sand to cushion this bottom,. a adequate response but with several fall backs. the major of these is that sand moves. Soon your smooth pool bottom will be a lunar landscape of ridges and foot prints. Also sand can fall away from the bottom edge of the pool wall allowing the liner to extend in a blister beneath the pool wall, and when the blister pops, you are the proud owner of a backyard swamp.

The answer then is polyfoam pool pad and coving. These simply and light products provide protection sand cannot. First, poly foam pool pad is a mere quarter inch of material which is near impervious to rocks and roots which easily migrate through sand. Polyfoam pad provides a smooth and constant service which looks good and allows for much easier cleaning. The poly foam pool cove is material with a triangular profile which creates a fort-five degree angle transition between pool wall and floor and will keep your liner in place.
These products are available with your pool purchase at small percentage of the total pool package cost , but is invaluable for keeping your liner intact. The replacement of a liner is not a terribly costly thing in terms of money, but in time, hassle (including draining and partially disassembling your pool) it is a nightmare that is easily avoidable.
