Wuxi has 3,000 years of history in its backdrop; the name itself means “No Tin” in Chinese which was a result of the declining tin mining industry in its province. Fishing junk boats that can be seen add to its charm. Visitors can also take a boat ride or cruise along the lake whilst enjoying the delicacies prepared aboard. Shrimp, whitebait and whitefish are plentiful in Lake Taihu, which many of the boats prepare as part of the feast.
