If you're anything like me, you like things that run on auto-pilot. I love cruise control in my truck and auto bill pay. It makes life so much easier! But what if I told you that you could put your calorie burning on auto-pilot and train your body to burn calories while you are sound asleep?

It's definitely possible, but it takes a little motivation and planning before hand. You will have to do some work to train your body to burn extra calories 24/7. But it may not take as long as you think.

What I'm talking about is your resting metabolic rate (RMR). This is basically your metabolism, which is how fast your body burns calories when you're not exercising or active. So if you can increase your RMR then your body will be burning calories for you ALL the time.

The way you increase your resting metabolic rate is by working out - hard. To get maximum results, you'll want to do a highly intense weight lifting session for about 45-60 minutes. During your workout, you'll want to focus on multi-joint lifts that move a lot of weight a long distance. This will break down your muscle fibers and force your body to repair itself. This act of repairing itself will jack your resting metabolic rate way up while your body is sending tons of extra calories to repair the muscle fibers.

You can expect your metabolism to stay higher for 1-2 days after each workout, depending on how hard you push yourself. Knowing this, if you plan your workouts about a day apart, and lift weights 3-4 times per week, then you will have effectively increased your resting metabolic rate 24/7.

Doing this will help you burn lots of extra calories while you are sitting around or sleeping, which means it will be easier for you to shed your body fat at a rapid pace. To get the same results from jogging on a treadmill, you'd have to spend a ridiculous amount of time in the gym, running away your life.

So start working smarter (not harder) and reap the amazing results of increasing your metabolism.
