Four ways to break up graciously

While dating is a very nice thing to do, somewhere down the line, you may find that the person you have chosen to date is not the one made for you. Let’s face it , break ups are common in many relationships. But it need not always end on a bitter note or be done in a way that creates fuzz in your or your partner’s life. Here are five tips that will help you break up graciously:

• Don’t overlap: If you have decided to make your present partner your “ex”, gather courage and say it right away. It is a bad idea to keep him/her as a back up and wait till you find someone else before you break the news to your present lover. Don’t overlap a break up and a new make up. Give some time gap.

• Don’t lie: be honest about the reason that is making you break up with the person. In doing so, tell him/her about the good qualities and explain how why you are not meant to be together.


• Call it quits forever: after the break up, have no plans of remaining as friends. This can lead to complications in your future relationships.


• Where you break up: avoid breaking up in public places. This can embarrass your partner and make the break up harder. Keep it private.


• To fight or not to fight: while you may be angry over your lover for a strong reason, be assertive in telling it. But do not fight. You don’t want to be the villain in the relationship.
