It's no secret that people working within the education field are often doing so with increased levels of stress in their lives. It's not an unusual for people to suffer from workplace stress, however, it's especially important for teachers to manage their stress due to the nature of their lively hood and the inherent responsibilities that exist with teaching.

Now would be a great time to take more control at the beginning of the new school year by starting to learn the importance of quality stress reduction techniques. Instead of letting your stress manifest and thrive throughout the academic year, you'll potentially become more successful at your job and grow in confidence leading to a better understanding and control of your students. There's no reason to go through life being anxious and dreading your job or your daily tasks. On top of all of that, stress can lead to weight gain, changing your body and affecting your physical health. Clearly, stress is something that shouldn't be taken lightly.


A great place to start when you initially attempt to solve any kind of problem is to identify the problem itself, therefore understanding the cause/s of your stress will be crucial. Before you can master your stress you have to come to a realization about what is causing you to be so stressed. There are an endless permutation of reasons why stress levels may become increased within the teaching profession, from badly behaved students to an overload of work and class preperation.

Once you understand what is causing your stress, you can figure out a plan to combat that problem. Sometimes all it takes is realizing what the problem is, and then you'll immediately be able to shift your attention, focus and energy to something else. Other times you'll really need to practice some great relaxation techniques and thinking exercises in order to get yourself into a healthier and happier place. You can help to minimise any stress by following healthy and regular eating and exercise regimes. Such as avoiding alcohol and caffeine products as both are known to disrupt sleeping patterns, and a lack of good quality sleep can in itself perpetuate increased stress.


Stress reduction programs and technologies have now come of age and you can take your learning one step further. These can be really simple to learn, with just a little time spent daily following such a program you will have everything you need to enable you to go 'to war' against your overburden of stress for this up and coming academic year. Just think within the next academic year you may of mastered the art of stress management so well that your career could take an altogether new path as you sail past your peers with career progression as a reward for your new found control!

Teachers are consistently under a lot of stress, day in and day out. Lots of people don't realize the amount of workplace stress that this profession entails. Instead of accepting that this stressful life is one you have chosen, one full of your own anxiousness whilst you watch your well-being vanish, seize control now.
