1. Pay your bills on time. If you are paying your bills late, usually 30 days late, it will become a part of your credit rating. Negative hits on your credit report because of late pays bring your score down in a hurry and it doesn't recover quickly.
2. Don't max out those cards. Try to keep your open credit lines under 50% of their maximum credit limit. If you have your cards maxed out it will negatively impact your credit score. You will want to have plenty of open credit lines but having too many can bring your score down as well.
3. Avoid multiple hits on your credit report. When you go out to find a home or a car they will often shop your loan and each time they shop it they will pull your credit multiple times. This is a bad thing because when you have credit pulls it will drop your score and will take some time to recover.
Keep these things in mind when you are thinking about your credit score. If you take care of your credit it will really take care of you.
