Secondly, the cost to run an electric water heater is not as much as many people believe that it is. The insulation used in today's hot water heaters is so good, electric models are now a lot more efficient than they used to be. It is true that the water heating unit will effect your electric bill, but it is not true that the cost will greatly outweigh the utility cost of running a gas unit.

Lastly, there is a much smaller risk of fire with an electric unit because there is no pilot light employed. This is a major benefit to all those who are concerned with safety.
