Being exposed to asbestos can be fatal for anyone. It is extremely common that asbestos exposure is normally met with people who work in construction or building and are actively working on or around asbestos sites. This exposure can either be unaware or aware, yet forced to work with the dangerous fibres.
It is important to know that these fibres can cause a number of serious defects and diseases, which luckily many building contractors and work site managers are aware of. However if exposed, diseases such as lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma can develop in you body causing extreme damage.

Mesothelioma is a type of asbestos related cancer, which can only really develop due to exposure of asbestos. This is a cancer that affects the linings of the heart and lungs, effectively ceasing or even polluting the production of fluid in the ‘pleura' that effectively helps the organs to run smoothly and effectively. This is extremely damaging and not easily curable. In fact whilst this form of cancer can be treated with chemotherapy and radio therapy, the lack of knowledge about this type of cancer means that no definite prognosis can be made. Asbestosis is also lung related, and although not generally fatal, is in fact a lung disease that can develop into something a lot more aggressive over time. None of these diseases are easy to live with as many breathing problems can occur, as well as chest pains and loss of bowel function/control, all extremely uncomfortable.

With these extremely bad side effects, caused by asbestos, it is important that you are not left uncompensated for not sufficiently being protected against the damaging fibres. It is very common for people to make anasbestos claim and actually win back compensation for any damage caused to them due to exposure of asbestos. It is even possible to make a mesothelioma claim, in order to compensate and make life a bit easier despite having developed the type of cancer. If you have developed mesothelioma or any other asbestos related disease it would be advisable that you consider approaching a solicitor and asking them to research your claim to find out whether or not you can collect any form of compensation.
