No matter your age, energy level or preference, just about anyone is bound to find something to see and do at these famous gardens. Take a walk through some of the most beautiful landscaped gardens, explore the jogging and walking paths, enjoy the cycling and rollerblading areas, go horse riding, a spot of fishing, children’s play area, shopping and a café to indulge in; all await the visitor at The Royal Landscape.
Of the many things to admire is the Savill Garden. 35 acres of contemporary, exotic and classical ornamental gardens make up the Savill Garden. Created in the 1930s by Sir Eric Savill, the area is a treasure trove with something to discover with every changing season. Visit the Spring Wood, The Hidden Gardens, The Summer Gardens, The Glades, The Autumn Wood, The New Zealand Garden and The Azalea Walks. The Valley Gardens is yet another aspect of The Royal Landscape that is worthwhile exploring that stretches across 250 acres. This particular garden has been said to be maintained since the middle of the 18th century, with a blend of grassy meadows, shrubs, meadows and forestry. Native trees such as Scots Pine and sweet chestnut flourish, whilst flowering plants such as cherry, magnolias, sweet gums, exotic oaks and countless maples can be found. From June to March each year, those who love to fish will find a bounty of tench, bream, carp and pike at the lakes in the gardens. A permit is required to fish in the lake.
The Savill Building which a new addition from the year 2006, has a roof that is shaped like a leaf. In this building, horticulturalists will delight in the products for gardening and products that encourage ladybirds, butterflies and native birds to visit your garden. Dining at the The Royal Landscape is also possible at the Savill Building. Visitors can enjoy eating outside during summer, or in the colder months indulge in the sumptuous food that is prepared by reputed caterers.
