Distributing Post-It Notes
You will instruct the kids who put out your post-it notes them, "I want you to go from Main Street down to Oak Street. I don't want you to go past block 100. I want you to start at block 100 and go to block 1,000." You make sure that they have a very defined area, obviously within your target area. They put out the post-it notes. They literally walk up and down the street to each house and they stick these things right on the front door. It takes all of about two seconds to put each one on the door. They can put out literally hundreds of them per day. Typically you'll pay them around $0.10, $0.11, $0.09, something like that. If they're kids you can get away with a little cheaper. They'll put them out there.
There's no way you can really tell how many they put out. Hopefully, there's an honesty factor here. It's always tough to know. What's nice about post-it notes is you're going to get calls almost immediately. You're going to get some calls from angry people. You've just got to disregard those.
Getting a Quick Response
You're also going to get calls from truly motivated people that want to talk to you further. You'll know when these kids are putting them out because you will literally get calls within that day. You can almost tell what streets they're on sometimes when they're working. It's a tremendous response. It's relatively very quick. Generally, the calls will come in within two or three days of the post-it note going out.
That call will come into your voicemail system where they can go to your website or they can call you directly. The process then starts where you communicate with them, find out what's going on, why they're calling, ask them a few questions about their property, try to understand what's going on in terms of their motivation, what their hot buttons are.
It's nice if you can find out something about their financing. What's going on with their current financing? Are they behind? What's causing the issue? You do a little bit of that and then ultimately you want to go meet this person at their property and the process continues at that point.
Costs
Post-it notes are a tremendous way of getting the message out. It's very targeted. If it's done right, it's going to be around $0.13 to $0.15 per post-it note delivered to the door. When I say delivered, delivered right to your target market. Again, it's a tremendous way of making sure that you get your message out in a very cost-productive way.
You will get a lot of calls. There are a number of examples. I will also give you, as a part of this tonight, my two post-it notes that I use. I have two different sizes. I will give you examples. They're in Word format so you can tweak those to fit your business.
