Search marketing looks at generating traffic and conversions through the search engines either via the organic search engine rankings or via pay per click campaigns. Keyword Research

Keyword research, whether you are preparing for a search engine optimisation or a pay per click campaign, is extremely important because if you don’t target the correct keywords that your target market will use then it will be a waste of time and money. Finding keyword phrases that have both a high search volume and a relatively low amount of competitors competing for that term will bring a higher chance of success. Niche keyword phrases will be less searched on than the more generic keyword phrases but in turn will have fewer competitors. The more detail users write in their search phrase, the higher the possibility that they will purchase the item once they have found the site with this specific product or service. These conversions are more guaranteed and can be easier to rank for if the website is optimised properly.


Look at your Competitors

Whatever marketing campaign you decide to go ahead with, looking at what your competitors are doing is always a good idea as they may have found a method that you may not have thought about. Especially with search engine optimisation, they may be using techniques that you haven’t done on your website or they may have a higher Page Rank than your website. Page Rank can be a clear indicator of how easy it will be to get onto page one of Google. If the average Page Rank on page one is 4 and your website has a Page Rank of 1 then this keyword may be difficult to get onto page one for.
