Although bicycling for exercise or as a form of transportation the Gary Fisher Mountain Bike has been around for years, the idea of cycling as a competitive sport or for exercise in the mountains is a relatively new concept. Mountain bikes are now one of the most popular pieces of exercise equipment on the market. In its most basic definition, mountain biking is using a bicycle to ride on unpaved or unmarked trails such as dirt roads or mountain trails. The mountain bikes have a very sturdy frame and very thick tires that can handle dirt roads better than normal bike tires could. Along with the bike being built for this kind of off-roading activity, there is full body armor that the rider wears and special helmets that they use.

There are numerous types of Gary Fisher Mountain bike for different types of mountain biking that a biker can choose to do. If you love speed, try downhill mountain biking. This requires special biking gear such as an up-to-20-speed mountain bike, a downhill riding helmet, and body pads as this is considered an extreme sport. Seeing as you would be riding down single file trails going at breakneck speeds and possibly even doing jumps, it is wise to have at least an intermediate level of mountain biking when trying this type. Mountain bikes used in this type of mountain biking should be equipped with reliable brakes such as hydraulic disc brakes.

Another type of mountain biking is winter mountain biking. First of all, this is a great way to get exercise outdoors when it is freezing, but it is also a bit more extreme if you love adventure. There are special precautions you have to take with mountain bikes when taking them out in the cold winter months. It is a good idea to have mud guards around both tires as the dirt roads that you rode in during the summer have now turned into mud by combining with the snow. Lowering the tire pressure in both tires is also a good idea to provide better traction on the snow. You should also use studded tires or bike chains for extreme winter conditions. You obviously have to dress yourself warmly for the winter riding, but make sure that your clothes are tight around your body so they don't get hooked onto your bike. Also, make sure you were gloves rather than mittens so you can grasp the bike brakes easier.
