When you are in the Wilmington, North Carolina area you will certainly want to take the time to visit the Battleship USS North Carolina. This battleship stands proud reminding visitors of the efforts the US took to remain a free world. You can board the battleship and explore it, as well as feel the pride that oozes from every corner with patriotism. Even if you are visiting other beaches in the area, even Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, you can still visit the Battleship USS North Carolina for a day.

The hours during the summer are from 8 am until 8 pm. However, on the 4th of July the ship closes at 6 pm in order to prepare to shoot off fireworks. The 4th of July is wonderful place to visit the battleship and the experience of watching the fireworks over the water will certainly fill you with pride to be an American. During the winter, which begins after Labor Day through the Thursday before Memorial Day, the hours are from 8 am until 5 pm. Christmas Day the ship opens at 12.

The tour of the ship is self guided, which means you can explore at your own pace and spend more time in areas that interest you and less in others. Generally, you will need at least two hours to explore the ship however if you are really interested in seeing all the ship has to offer you will need to spend three or four hours.
