Business process outsourcing has transformed from something new and unfamiliar into an industry where we have taken the global spotlight. BPO has become a familiar term to all classes of households, as many Filipinos have found employment in BPO companies.
With little efforts in global marketing and globe trotting, Filipinos began outshining competitors with their highly competent English proficiency. This is the main reason why huge multinational BPO corporations began wanting to get their hands on Filipino communication skills and talents. Many BPO companies established branches in the Philippines, a huge part of these companies even transferred their main office in the country. The whole world now recognizes the Filipinos as one of the leaders in the provision of high quality voice services. The neutral accent Filipinos have also gives them a unique edge in the voice servicing sector as they can easily adapt to the callers accent. Filipinos and foreigners alike who have invested in BPO ventures in the Philippines have greatly increased their wealth to at least several ten folds.
Contact centers, more popularly known as call centers which have the biggest share in the Philippine BPO industry have already become widespread in all major cities and even in big provinces in the country. BPO endeavors have become the keys behind the success of many stakeholders as well as providers of high earning job opportunities for those capable yet jobless Filipinos. The Philippines has already gained the momentum and now ranks 3rd in the world in terms of the quantity of business process assignments. The main task at hand now is how to maintain or quicken the pace and ultimately become the king of the global BPO industry. The country should focus on enhancing its biggest strength and asset in this field, which is its large pool competent and capable workforce.
Before the Philippine BPO boom, working overseas has been the last resort of many Filipinos in providing for themselves and for their families. But the unavoidable effects on the families which share close family ties usually cannot be ignored. BPO companies have left Filipinos with another option; they can now earn much without having to be separated with their loved ones.
If the Philippines is to realize its dream of becoming the global leader in business process outsourcing, attention should be focused on training and expanding its workforce. ICT which is often times perceived as Information Communications Technology can mean other things when it comes to training: I for infrastructure (the connectivity needed), C for content – (the software or application), T– for training – (provide the much-needed human resource).
Outsourcing’s potential on a global scale can measure up to trillions of dollars. The Philippines can reap a huge part of this potential if it improves and takes its educational and human resource training competent up another notch. The country can grab the top spot if its workforce come to posses the necessary resiliency and adaptability to evolve with the growing and expanding global BPO industry.
For those who want to outsource their business processes to Philippine BPO companies the
