Windshield chips and cracks can occur year-round. From the summer heat to winter road debris, there are a number of hazards that can make keeping your car running and looking its best difficult. The fall presents another particularly difficult time for windshields, and it is one of the best times of the year, temperature-wise, to get any older, neglected windshield chip repairs completed.

Auto windshield repair is used to stop small chips and nicks in the glass from spreading and causing large cracks that undermine the structural integrity of the car and impede driver safety. These can occur at any time during the year, especially in areas where traffic is high. Most drivers already know that winter hazards typically center on loose gravel and flying rocks, and summer hazards deal with extreme temperature changes and cross-country travel. However, fall hazards are equally important to consider. They include:

• Rocks and debris from the road
• Nuts and other debris from overhead trees
• Small chips from previous seasons that have not yet been repaired

It's this last hazard that is one of the most important in making the decision to get windshield chip repair. When a windshield gets even the smallest chip, your vehicle's glass is susceptible to additional damages (in the form of cracks or the chip spreading) for as long as you continue driving.

As the temperatures cool and humidity changes in the fall, your car is at a higher likelihood for this occurring; in fact, any change of season presents an additional risk because of the effect of environment on windshield chips and cracks. Getting the windshield chip repairs before the even more drastic temperature changes of winter also means you can stave off some of the larger and more expensive damages that occur when the chip spreads.

Now that family vacations have come to a halt and the kids are heading back to school, it's time to get your car running at its best. Take care of all the windshield chips that may have occurred during your summer travels and prepare for the harsh winter months by getting your windshield chip appointment set up while the weather remains ideal for fast and easy windshield glass repair.
