Caribbean Holidays are renowned for their 5* luxury hotels, extreme temperatures and most of all…..Romantic getaways. Whether it’s a liaison with your lover or a honeymoon you're planning, you’ll find everything you need in the Caribbean. Prices between the Islands differ considerably and depending when you are looking to travel. Travelling throughout or near to hurricane season will almost guarantee getting yourself a bargain holiday, whereas travelling from November through to May will see most prices go through the roof. Taking all of this into consideration, here are 5 islands I can recommend ranging from the best value for money, through to the more expensive.

One of the more popular and cheaper of the Caribbean Islands to visit is the Dominican Republic, with its stunning hotels and pristine beaches, the Dominican has something to offer everyone. Choose from the North side, strewn with beautiful long golden sandy beaches and a whole host of watersports and beach activities available, usually the cheaper side to visit. If you find yourself heading for the South, you’re in for a real treat. Offering an array of All Inclusive properties sat on soft, white, stunning beaches, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Another superb and popular Caribbean Island to visit is Cuba. With several resorts to choose from, you'll find something for everyone here. If you’re a sun worshipper and your partner's a sight seer, you can even combine the two and have yourself an action packed twin centre holiday which has something to suit everyone. Varadero is famous for its powder like, white beaches but is mainly hotel based, therefore there are many top class boutique hotels to choose from offering some great All Inclusive packages. Combine your holiday in Varadero with a short stay in the capital city of Havana. Dripping with culture, you’ll get lost wandering around the colourful streets or in one of the many museums.

For a real culture shock, head for Jamaica, with its stunning beaches, watersports for all and some great trips on offer, you’ll never be allowed to get bored. Although it is safer to remain on your hotels grounds, there are a number of trips available where you can take in the laid back Jamaican lifestyle and even take a once in a lifetime visit to Dunn’s River Falls, where you and your loved one can venture up the falls together or relax at the bottom taking in the spectacular scenery.

Take the plunge and embark on a slice of pure luxury. Barbados is known to be strewn with swaying palms, soft, white, gleaming sand and sparkling warm waters. Ideal for a romantic getaway, you’ll find lots of wanted privacy and soaring temperatures….enough to make you not want to move…..but you must! However tempting it is to stay in your beautiful hotel grounds, venture down to the south coast where you'll find a fun filled party vibe or head over to Bridgetown for some retail therapy.

One of the most prestigious of all Caribbean islands is St Lucia. A well known honeymooner’s paradise, with its gleaming warm waters, white powdery beaches and dreamy sunsets, you and your loved one will lap up the privacy this tropical island has to offer. There’s more than just sunbathing on offer, nature lovers will love exploring the island by foot or horseback, visit the drive in volcano and always be on the look out for the leather back turtles who come ashore to nest. St Lucia holidays can be more expensive, however well worth the money.
As great as European holidays are, Caribbean holidays are in a league of their own, they give you the opportunity to take time out for yourself, to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings which envelope you on your stay.
