Nokia’s next Maemo-based flagship device is reportedly called Nokia
N900, or Nokia Rover, and it will come with Maemo 5 software on Linux,
plus a myriad of high-end features.
With these, the
Nokia N900 shall bring the power of computer to mobile
devices and can be aptly called a mobile computer. It features an
array of features like multitasking on a live Dashboard, wide screen
video capture, 3.5“ WVGA touch display (800 x 480 pixels), QWERTY
tactile keyboard and panorama desktop.
The
Nokia N900 also features 1 GB of application memory and up to 48GB
of storage that can store up to 7000 MP3 songs or 40 hours of
high-quality video. It has a BL-5J 1320mAh battery.
Maemo browser is powered by Mozilla Technology and includes Adobe
Flash 9.4 and full AJAX support. Wi-Fi and 3.5G, Bluetooth v2.1
including support for stereo headsets integrated FM transmitter and
integrated GPS with A-GPS connectivity provides fast access to
Internet. Its 5 megapixel camera take high quality pictures and wide
screen videos using its Carl Zeiss optics while the dual LED flash
lets you take great pictures day or night. You can tag photos and
browse them using the tag cloud, and see where images were taken with
the automatic geotagging. Its Maemo media player can play file formats
namely wav, .mp3, .AAC, .eAAC, .wma and m4a.
Merge your phone book, Skype contacts and other contacts into an
all-in-one address book. And naturally, N900 has a phone application
for voice calls. The N900 should become available in Asia and the
Middle East and in most of Europe’s markets by October 2009.
