Wearing perfume is a must for anyone who wants to look good and smell great, and yet exude a certain aura at the same time. Make no mistake: how you smell can affect how you look. Granted, no perfume will make bad clothes look good; but perfume can add a little something extraordinary to the ordinary. You have to be careful, however, to make your perfume work for you, or you could end up with too much smell, and no charisma.
How can you make perfume work for you? First, spray it on, don't marinate in it. A good trick would be for you to spray perfume in the air, and then walk through the mist. That way, you don't inundate your body with it. Perfume, after all, is a concentrated solution. If you have eau de parfum, on the other hand, which is a diluted version, then you can do away with the walking through its mist.
This brings us to the second tip: if you are using eau de parfum, don't marinate in it either. Spray on your neck, or only on your shoulders and the inside of your elbow. These strategic places are where perfume clings best. Don't overdo it, since eau de parfum could have a tendency to smell a lot like alcohol.
Third, always test your perfume for at least an hour before you buy it. You can do this by spraying it on the inside of your wrist at a store, and then walking around. The perfume's aroma can change over time, and you don't want to smell like flowers one hour, then garbage the next. Explore how this aroma changes: smell the perfume as it is sprayed, walk around, and then smell it again. If you like how you smell even after an hour or two, then you may have hit the jackpot!
Fourth, when testing your perfume, walk both outside and inside the store. The air-conditioning in your store could make the perfume last far longer; what happens when you hit humidity, heat, and rain? Does the weather make your perfume smell bad? Try walking around and seeing how different temperatures change the scent.
Fifth, and last, don't be afraid to mix and match some perfumes. You may be able to blend some of your perfumes or eau de parfum so that you can come up with your own fragrance. As long as you don't overdo your perfume, and as long as you use perfume that actually works for you over time and through different kinds of weather conditions, then you may have the perfume that you can use for a long time.
