HTC has launched the 2nd Android Operating System based smartphone
which is tagged as "HTC Hero" in the Indian market. Android is a
Linux-based operating system for mobile devices that was introduced in
November last year developed by Google and later the Open Handset
Alliance. It allows developers to write managed code in the Java
language, controlling the device via Google-developed Java
libraries.Hero comes with a customisable user interface called HTC
Sense.
HTC Hero is a smart handset that is equipped with a 3.2-inch HVGA
(320x280) TFT-LCD touchscreen, Qualcomm 528MHz MSM7200A processor,
512MB ROM, 228MB RAM, supports Adobe Flash, gesture control, widgets,
single view of different application, in-built internal GPS, 3.5mm
audio jack, microSD memory slot. Plus, gravity-sensor, 5 megapixel
autofocus
camera and expandable MicroSD memory.
Hero's LCD is on par with the competition. One nice added feature is a
proper light sensor here, so automatic dimming works and take
advantage of the eye- and battery-saving functionality.
The
HTC Hero would also offer a battery backup of about 7.8 hours via
1350mAh lithium-ion battery. For the Airtel subscribers, HTC Hero
would provide a free data download of 100 MB per month for six months.

34,600 in Maharashtra and Rs. 31,900 throughout the rest of the
country and will be sold at all leading
HTC distributors across
India.Handset makers such as Motorola and Samsung are also planning to
launch mobile devices based on the Android operating system in the
country.
