It’s interesting to see what technology the latest 3D gaming options are offering. Within the game; Blitz, you can pick an option entitled 3D Ready, where you get a spinning 3D logo, and you can go through the menu options until it springs out at you in 3D.
Avatar will let you set it up in a similar fashion. At this year’s E3 Show, it was demonstrated on a prototype horizontal interlaced passive 3D screen.

Sadly, the game that doesn’t look like it’s going to do too well is G-Force. This is due to the fact that it plays it safe by using the old anaglyph glasses. These do offer a pseudo-3D effect but also make the colours of the game appear blurry and faded, rendering it a sadly unplayable curiosity until you turn off the stereoscopic 3D.

If you’re more of a PC gamer, you can already get to grips with a stereoscopic 3D system, by teaming up an Nvidia 3D Vision graphics cards with a compatible monitor and active 3D glasses. Codemasters has 3D-enabled most of its games already, and the majority of future PC titles should follow its example.

One issue with 3D gaming that experts have foreseen is that first person shooter games could prove problematic in 3D due to your eyes not being able to catch up with the movement that may seem exaggerated in 3D. You may have experienced the nausea that can occur when playing – or watching someone play – a first-person shooter on a big screen, and this feeling may be more intense when playing a 3D game.

It’s clear that there are a number of problems with 3D gaming still present at the moment but rest assured that there will eventually come a day when we’ll laugh at the 2D games we used to play – just like we do with those, once impressive, NES games.

As well as games consoles becoming more and more impressive, computer games are also becoming a lot more in-depth with the introduction of 3D gaming that looks set to dominate the gaming world from now on.

Until then, if you’re looking for the latest video game releases then try online shopping and get the best deals around.
