A Vertical Wind Turbine may be more affordable and require less height than a Wind Turbine that has to be mounted on a high roof or tower. The vertical turbine is only 30 feet tall, and is used in residential areas. You can place it on your roof with standard wiring. Vertical turbines do not require independent wiring. The turbine is quiet and suited for existing homes.

Some Wind Turbines are virtually silent. The turbine can be integrated into your existing architecture, or attached to an exiting building. You can immediately have an electricity producing unit upon completion. Small Wind Turbines has a vertical axis that channels wind onto a mobile rotor. Windside turbines, used for charging batteries, are an eco friendly energy producer. They can be useful when wind is not steady but gusting and harsh.

A collapsible Wind Turbine is offered with portability and be carried by the average person. The application is ideal for boating or sailing. Wind Turbines that are a little larger, but still small and vertical, is an electricity powered producer for homes, small businesses and utility companies. The mid size vertical Wind Turbine is used for, among other things, aiding the larger Wind Turbines, where there is high wind.

The Wind Turbine that is a little larger yet, and still eco friendly, is used for homes and commercial settings. The unit is quiet and offers several speeds. The larger turbine works well in high winds and harsh weather conditions. It is quiet but small enough to be listed in the smaller Wind Turbine category, but offers more power than its smaller cousins.

The manufacturer is producing smaller turbines that are quiet but available for safe use where the very large Wind Turbines are not applicable. The smaller vertical turbine is offered to and used by smaller homes, urban areas, and small businesses. It is also affordable. It is installed on a roof as an air conditioning unit would be mounted.
The interest in Wind Turbine has increased over the years and many designs have come to market. One of them is the vertical axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs) that are quiet, eco friendly, and ideal for home use in urban areas. In the world of vertical Wind Turbines, there is one called the Savonius rotor. If you take a 55 gallon drum and cut it in half, place them on a shaft that turns, you a Savonius. If is not high tech and does not produce high efficiency, but some have redesigned it to have presentable efficiency.

The market also has the Darrieus. It might look like an egg beater. You can picture the blades rotating around the center like a beater does. The Darrieus is designed to give air a lift as an airplane wing that gives air lift. As long as air is flowing over the beater blades, the blades will be turning. Since the blades are vertical, the blades will remain stationary spinning the generator. It is a good design but less efficient. If you would like a cheaper way to generate your own energy, you may be interested in building your own vertical Wind Turbine.
