Whenever you see anything of worth being done anywhere, it's because someone has made it happen. And someone with vision, conviction and a goal. And when it comes to your personal life and your business life, goal setting can be the difference between not achieving and achieving something of worth with your life.

You've probably heard about goal setting but how precisely do you set and achieve goals?

The good news is that there is a goal setting formula or strategy that can be used to increase your chances of goal setting success.

And here is it in 7 easy steps.

STEP 1. Determine what you REALLY want and set a goal to achieve it. And understand why you want to achieve it. A good goal is one that you have an intense desire to achieve. Strengthen this desire by writing down all the benefits of achieving this goal.

STEP 2. WRITE your goal down. A goal that isn't written down can't be achieved – out of sight, out of mind! Once you put your goal in writing it becomes real, in sight and in mind and makes its way into your subconscious.

STEP 3. IDENTIFY the hurdles you will need to overcome, and the assistance you will need to defeat them and achieve your goal. What resources will you need – money, knowledge, time, support, etc. Write these obstacles and resources down in a list.

STEP 4. Establish a TIMEFRAME for your goal. Where are you now? Where do you want to be? How long will it take to get there? If you don't set a deadline you'll never realise your goal. It doesn't matter if you have to re-set if your plans change as long as you have something definitive to aim for.

STEP 5. Prepare an ACTION PLAN. Step by step, write down all the actions you need to do to achieve your goal. These can be as detailed as you like, as long as you know exactly what action you must take and when you need to take it. What is your first step you need to do? Do it now!

STEP 6. VISUALISE your goal. Close your eyes and picture what your life will be like once you achieve your goal. Savour the moment and get excited by what you see. This image will burn into your subconscious mind and drive you with even more passion to succeed. Do this every day.

STEP 7. Just DO IT! It will take patience, perseverance and maybe even some intestinal fortitude to deal with any set-backs but you need to keep working at your goal if you are to achieve your goal.

So put this formula into practice NOW and set yourself some goals. And with only 100 days to go until the end of the year, what better time to set some 100 day goals so that you end 2009 with a bang. Keep reading to find out about the 100 Day Challenge so that you make this year count.
