The unemployment rate in Australia now rests at 5.8 per cent, much stronger than previous forecasts, although, a recent Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) report for the month of August 2009 indicated that Australia's employment indicator is climbing. Still, in spite of this positive news ,figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics have concluded that around 117,000 full-time jobs were lost since the beginning of the year with approximately 1.7 million Australians supposedly out of work at some point in the year leading to February 2009.
